Today was.....

So... I went over my calories today. I haven't done that since I started (on a day that I was tracking them, so Christmas doesn't count), so I feel really bad that I ate that much! My mom and I went over to my grandma's for brunch, and it's pretty much impossible to turn down grandma food (heather you know exactly what I am talking about), so I ate pretty much the majority of my calories their and then we went out to eat for dinner... so ya way over today :( BUT.... When I got home I did go for a two mile walk, so I am happy about that :) Here is my food diary for today:

Plans for tomorrow include another 2 mile walk in the morning and then cleaning my room and doing laundry until I have to work haha!

Uh-oh I'm in trouble

I just had brunch at my grandmas house, and I put it in my calorie counter and I'm at 99% of my daily intake.....i don't know how I will be able to not go under my calories today...

Ok Christmas is over... Time to get serious!

So.... I totally lagged over Christmas, and now I am ready to get back into the routine! I feel gross, and I miss working out and keeping track of my calories! I am finishing up my food diary for the day and will be posting it probably tomorrow morning since it is pretty late right now and I'm pretty much ready for bed!!!

not happening

So.... working out is not working out currently..... and its about to be christmas so i am not going to get mad at myself. This just gives me a better reason to start working out for the new year :)

WE CAN DO IT!!!!!

I just read your blog, and your comment to mine... and my feeling now is WE CAN DO IT! We need to stay motivated and (I know this sounds corny but) keep our eyes on the prize! (The prize being healthy bodies that we can't get enough of).

I was feeling so great last week when I was working out everyday and eating great. I was in such a good mood all day, I had energy, and I got a lot done. I was more organized and everything was pretty much just the way I like it. Then all this rain happened (it's literally been raining since last Friday) and I found it really appealing to not do anything. Not log my food, not work out, not clean my room, not make my bed, not spend much time getting ready in the morning... I want to attribute this to being exhausted but I just don't think thats true. I want to say the weather is keeping me inside but thats not true either. This is the first (and I'm sure it won't be the last) obstacle I NEED to overcome to achieve my goals.

I think a solution to this plan is to make plans. Before I go to bed the night before I need to make my workout plan for the next day. What will I be doing throughout the day, set an alarm to remind me to not be lazy and do what I planned, and then DO IT!!!!!! I have found when I made plans the  night before I was more likely to carry them out than if I was figuring things out as the day went on.

With that being said, here is my plan for tomorrow: There are no classes at the gym that I feel like taking...  and it's raining outside (I HATE running on the treadmill). I am setting my alarm for 6:30 am. I need to be home and in the shower by 7:30 so that gives me an hour to get in 4 miles. I ran in the rain last week and I can do it again! Going to work last week I saw someone doing it and it made me feel like I was making excuses for myself... so rain, please take it easy on me tomorrow morning!!!!!!! Wish me luck (I think I will need it!)

Coming tomorrow: update on my workout AND a food diary entry :) Goodnight!

This morning...

Did not go as planned. I was at work last night until 1am and then Billy and I went to Friday's to meet some friends foe one of our co-workers birthday (don't worry I didn't have anything there). By the time we got home it was about 2am. I set my alarm for 8 and figured I might have time to fit in some quick yoga from my workout DVD (which I think I should get more of for this exact reason. BUT.... My room is fuul of CRAP and there's already not a lot of room for me to do my yoga in here.. and I need to leave for work in 30 mins. UGH!!!!

I also decided last night that the "weather" makes it hard to workout because I hate doing anything in the rain, but at the same time I think it was me giving into my laziness and not doing anything for the past 2 days that made me feel so super tired and groggy as well. Work last night was horrible, and I'm not sure if it was me or just the luck of the draw with the tables I got sat... but either I was having a really off night or people were just jerks. Anyone who thinks its OK to leave NOTHING on a 86 dollar chick needs to be shot, I'm sorry but they do! OK enough of my whining I need to get ready for work and after work I have a lot of workout catchup to do!

Weighing in at 159 pounds :( I gained 2 pounds back... thats one pound for every day that I thought it was a good idea to be lazy and not do anything. I guess I have learned my lesson. I need to get under the 145 mark!!!!! I'm DONE teetering around 150! UGHHHHHH! BIG time workout coming after work today, I'm thinking maybe some rock climbing! It's been a while.

p.s. I saw a lady running in the rain yesterday and it really made me feel horrible about myself.  Earlier this week I was running in the rain also... I need to kick myself into gear! PLUS the holiday's are fast approaching.... I will not derail, I will not derail, I will not derail!!!!!

So Lazy!!!

So.... I failed my own challenge. I did not work out yesterday, and I will not be working out today either. I should really go for a walk or something small but it's raining and I just don't feel like it. I am going to try and wake up early tomorrow at go to the gym. I work at 9:30 am so I am planning on going before work tomorrow, and then again after work. I need to make up for  my laziness... all I know is I just have had zero energy these past 2 days. It's 2:30 right now and I have to work at 5 I didn't want to be rushing to get to work.

I also haven't posted my food logs for the past 3 days. I have been keeping them I promise I haven't gone over. Tomorrow is weigh in, and I'm a little nervous now. I hope these past two days haven't affected my weight too much because I have been doing so good lately...

I will post more tomorrow.

Tuesday's info might be a little late...

So I have most of the stuff I ate ready to be posted but.... in order to enter my dinner I need to borrow a nutritional guide from my work. Today's nutritional info will be posted at some point tomorrow :)

But for my working out... I did great! This was my third day in a row, and I am already so proud of myself and feeling great. Tomorrow I will be going to mat pilates, which KILLED my legs last time I went and since my soreness has gotten better hopefully I will be able to make it through this class... we shall see...

Tonight I am spending the night at Billy's YAY! Cuddle time :) so have a good night!! I can't wait for tomorrow, wish me luck!

good news!!!

I am officially not (that) sore anymore!! I'm not sure if it's because I stuck with it and continued to work out everyday... or if its because i stretched for about 10 mins. After my run today. Either way I think it's time to make stretching apart of my daily routine as well :) I can't wait to workout tomorrow and even more than that I can't wait to weigh in on Sunday!

Rain or shine I WILL RUN!!!

So I wake up this morning and it's a little wet outside. Not pouring or even raining... just a light drizzle. But did that stop me? No way Jose! I went for my jog (with less walking this time). It felt really good! My legs are extremely sore from everything that I have been doing since Sunday, but I am pressing on and I know that will go away eventually. Here is my photo from this drizzly morning.

I also have video from this morning... but I'm having a hard time trying to upload that. It might appear later today in another blog... so keep an eye out for that.

My food journal and anything else I fell necessary to include in this blog will also appear later this evening.

Have a fabulous day!!!

What I can still swim??

So it turns out I am starting to thoroughly enjoy this blog! I have tried things like this before to hold myself accountable and usually it's nice for the first few days but it usually wears off and I forget about it until the next time I feel compelled to worry about my body again. This has been an ongoing process since I became a non-athlete. Ever since I feel like I have been "trying" to get into some sort of shape again. Well... I am happy to say that I think I have FINALLY reached a point where I will be making an actual lifestyle change into being fit! I know what your thinking, it's only day 3 of  her 7 day challenge, but I'm serious! I have never been able to so effortlessly squeeze working out into my hectic schedule. Also I think I have finally come to terms with how my body looks, and now I am just working out because I genuinely like it! I am a much happier person when I am regularly working out, I also tend to be more motivated! I don't mind being those things on a regular basis so whatever workout/health bug jumped into my body while I was sleeping needs to stay there as long as possible!

Alright so here is how my day today went. Woke up early and planned to get to the gym (and be in the pool) by 7:30 at the latest. Turns out I got stuck on the phone with stupid verizon until like 7:35, so I didn't end up hopping into the pool on time. My workout was cut pretty much in half :( Although... I was still able to hit my goal (I swam for 45 mins. and my goal is 30 mins. for 7 days), and with this I am content. It made me happy to be in the pool again!

Here is the breakdown of what I ate today:

The plan for tomorrow is to go for a run/walk in the morning. I am hoping to get more running in than I did on Monday. We shall see. The plan is to do at LEAST 2.5 miles. More would be awesome, we shall see how I am feeling in the morning. I can't wait to use my cardio trainer again! I love that app! Another reason I think I will actually stick with the program this time... everything is so accessible!  It's very easy to keep track of EVERYTHING in order to keep myself motivated.

Goodnight world! See you tomorrow for the sunrise!

Day two a success!!!

I am going to make this entry short... I woke up early this morning and went for a walk (with a teeny bit of running). Here is a picture I took this morning while on my run (but mostly walk). It's pretty dark but yes that would be the sunrise! haha!

I downloaded a new app on my phone called cardio trainer, I know that sounds pretty basic but that is what it says on my phone haha! But it's awesome all I do turn it on and "start my workout" depending on what I am doing it will track my progress! Like today I went running, and it used the GPS on my phone to track where I ran EXACTLY how far I ran (walked), how many steps I took, how fast I was going, and how many calories I burned. It gave me little updates through my headphones during my workout which was awesome! ( The distance part was my favorite!). I wish I knew how to take a screen shot on my phone so I could post a picture of it... maybe that's something I should look into.

As for my food intake today... I am not sure of its accurate-ness, because I shared some appetizers during happy hour at my work with some friends and forgot to take home the calorie menu to calculate it... but just added to my calorie tracker to the best of my ability :)

Here is my food for today :) it wasn't that much. A super small breakfast and a late lunch that held me over through dinner...

And for tomorrow I am planning to go swimming at the gym somewhere around 6am. I am planning on going to my kinder class tomorrow (which I am no longer required to go to, I just thought it might be nice since it's the last week before Christmas break), and then I am meeting my master teacher for my block 2 assignment after school, AND I work at 6 so I am not too sure I will be able to fit in a workout anywhere during the day. I am going to try to squeeze one in before the day starts... but it's midnight right now and I will have to wake up at 5:30 to gather my things and get going (including my clothes and such for school) YIKES! That's a lot if I plan on getting to the gym around 6am. Maybe I will stick to the treadmill or eliptical (which will be boring and almost a repeat of today) but I do want to make sure I get SOME type of a workout in...

Wish me luck :)

Sunday's Log

Alright... I'm officially done eating for the day so... here is my log :) And this is the first time I will actually be posting a picture of it so I am pretty excited about including these in my blogs from now on!

So... My total calories for today was 1496, and I am pretty sure that this application does not subtract the calories from working out. (I will have to double check that though). I have a leftover amount of 304! Thats awesome!
My alarm is set for tomorrow, and my plan is to jog/walk 2 miles. I don't think I will have time to go to the gym tomorrow, so I will be doing this in the great outdoors! Maybe a yoga class at the gym later on in the evening (if I end up not working).

Wish me luck!
p.s. So far I'm excited to weigh in on Sunday!!!

Turns out I like working out... who knew!

So I followed through with my plan of working out this morning! YAY! I went to a body works class. Its mostly weights, and a little cardio and a little abs. I'm not going to lie I was really worried! But... turns out I LOVED IT!!!! The class went by super fast, and because we were always changing what we were doing i never felt like, "gosh is this class over yet?" I also never felt like I was bored. I felt like I was getting a good workout from like a personal trainer or something... and I liked it! I am also logging my calories on my new app....  and it is so cool! So far (in the one day I have been using it) I have not run across any foods that were not already in the database. The coolest part... it has a scan function, so if its anything with a barcode I can literally scan it into my food diary! HOW COOL IS THAT!!! Well I just got home from work a little bit ago, and my dad is making yummy burritos for dinner downstairs so I will blog later tonight (after I'm all done eating for the day) about how I did on my calories... Wish me luck!

ok... so it's not the lose it app...

It was called lose it... but it wasn't what I though :( Looking for another that will be just as helpful :)

Okay, Okay, enough excuses.... JUST GET IT TOGETHER!

So... I'm not going to lie... I have been super lazy about EVERYTHING! My last post was very positive... Planning to go to the gym, logging my calories... but then I went to best buy and bought a new phone instead of going to the gym... well tomorrow is Sunday and I am making a packed with myself that I will work out once a day for at least 30mins. AND log my calories (I am downloading the lose it app as we speak!) I'm trying a new approach and taking this thing one step at a time! One goal at a time! Right now I will focus on seven straight days of some type of physical activity :) Tomorrow... body works plus abs and I have a date at 8:30 am. My alarm is set and I will be SURE to go! Now I just need to figure out how to take a screen shot of my lose it app from my driod so I can easily post my progress :)

Wish me luck! I will weight in next Sunday... Right now I am pretty positive I am back right where I started (150).

Today so far..

Started off horrible. Not calorie wise, just in general! I felt like crap! I didn't think I was going to be able to get out of bed, but I stuck it out... I popped a tums forced myself to eat some breakfast (dry honey nut cherrios) and got on with my life. Then slowly the day started to get better. My stomach started to feel better (thank you tums!) and by lunch time I was actually hungry! I brought a hot pockets panini that my mom had in the freezer, I hope she wasn't saving it for herself. I was only planning on eating half since half is 190 calories and I didn't think I was going to feel up to eating the entire thing anyways... but to my surprise I was still hungry after eating the first half so I went ahead and ate the second half. I thought since my stomach hasn't been feeling to great it's probably a good idea for me to get some food in my system. So far my calories are as follows:

Amount allowed: 1644
Amount eaten: 756
Amount left to eat: 888

I still need to add dinner which I haven't eaten, but I'm eating at home tonight (not sure what the menu entails) and I'm not planning on the calories being to detrimental. PLUS... I actually think I might use my gym pass tonight! There is a kickbox cardio class at 7:00 and a yoga class right after at 8:00. I will probably be sore beyond belief tomorrow... but I like going to classes! I was planning on canceling my gym membership (because actually I can't really afford it) but I haven't yet and I want to give it one more shot before I give up on it cuz let's face it I will get a WAY better workout going to those classes than I will doing my own thing.

Keep your fingers crossed that I actually go! I will update my calorie tracker later tonight :)

Party Tonight

Tonight is my aunt Michelle's surprise 40th birthday. I will have to be careful of what I eat while I am there. I know for dinner I will be having prime rib... because that's what I ordered when I rsvp'd. Hopefully the rest of the menu won't be too bad, and I'm hoping for some dancing to hopefully burn off a good amount of the dinner. Wish me luck!

Not a bad day

Friday was a pretty good day nutrition wise. I did not go over my suggested calorie intake (YAY!) The bad thing... I didn't get a chance to work out :( I got off work later than I expected and went straight to bed. I'm on billy's computer and can't figure out how to take a screen shot haha but...

Budget: 1644
Amount used: 1158
Amount remaining: 486

Motivation is awesome!

It's coming down to the last final weeks of my student teaching. I'm so crazy and busy that I havn't been working out or counting my calories and even worse pretty much eating all the time. I am pretty sure that I am right back where I started :( I was actually planning on blogging about how i'll be taking a break until after christmas... but then I read all of heather's blogs and it pretty much jumpstarted me right back on the right track! YAY! so... I plan to log my food for today, and I might even be able to find time to work out after I get off work tonight, a light walk maybe :) And I am planning on hitting my mom up for a walk tomorrow morning as well :) Thanks for the motivation Heather! I'm glas we are doing this together!

Getting back to it!

OKAY its Saturday morning and I excited to get back to "the plan." It's 9:36 am right now and I'm hoping Billy will wake up soon and we will do something outdoors-ey. I've been wanting to play tennis for a long time, and we also haven't been rock climbing for a while either so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Billy will be down when he wakes up :) I'll post later the results of today!

OK Thanksgiving is over... time to get back to it :)

So thanksgiving was rough!!! I ate way to much (duh)! HAHA! BUT.... I did only have one plate each time I ate (Which was 3 times). The third one was a very skimpy plate, since I was basically forcing myself to eat it... I felt bad since Billy's dad was telling us not to be shy and they saved it all for us so we had to eat some of it. I am not even going to count calories for the past few days, but tomorrow I will start back up again and hopefully the same will be true of working out :) My legs feel so gross! Like when I sit down even I feel like it hurts because of the fat getting squeezed against the chair I am sitting on. I know that sounds crazy... but it's true!  And now that I know how to take screen shots I am excited to announce that I will be posting those within my blog :) YAY!! haha :)

Good night! and I'm not weighing in until Monday :)

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

I've lost 3 pounds already! 147 and dropping!

So far my plan seems to be working :) I am really paying attention to what I am eating, and its surprising how often I was eating before when I wasn't even hungry! And how little I am eating now (at least it seems like a little) and I haven't yet felt like, "oh I'm starving!" I'm also having fun going for walks and doing small things to work out. I'm not trying to go nuts, which would be nice for my body probably, but I know I don't have the energy or the time for that. For now I am just logging what I eat and trying to get outside as much as possible. I'm wanting to start going rock climbing again (me and billy used to go at least once a week), and since I'm still paying for the membership I might as well take advantage... I'm also planning on going to the gym tomorrow to cancel my membership. I know that sounds counter-productive... but I NEVER go! It's so boring working out at the gym, I would much rather do something outdoors! And why have I been paying for this gym membership that I am not using... who knows! So for now I am enjoying working out and weighing in :) I hope to keep this up! Hopefully by the time I need to put on a bikini I will be 135 with no cellulite :) that would be nice! haha!

I'm so proud of me!

I must say, I am proud of myself for today! And since I don't have a fancy shmancy iphone app to track my calories and take screen shots of.... I will just have to give you all the details :)

Total calories allowed daily:
1,644
Total calories eaten today:
1,459
Total leftover calories:
185

Go me for eating within my allowed calories for the day! ALSO I went for a bike ride today for about 90 mins. Billy and I rode our bikes down to Alta Loma Elementary (where I am doing my student teaching) because I had forgotten a few things. I really wanted to get the chance to work out today, so I made my errand into a fun workout, and even got Billy to come (which in and of itself is a workout!)

The only bad thing about starting this right now at this very moment is that in a few short days it will be thanksgiving, and I know for sure that this meal will be a big time cheater meal.... I don't even think I will attempt to count my calories that day, there is just way to much food and I don't even want to see how much it is in a number!

Now what should I choose to do for a workout tomorrow? I think a nice walk in the morning will be nice!! (hopefully it's not raining!)

Wish me luck!!!!!

Here we go again!

Ok let's give this another shot. It's been pretty much impossible for me to find time to work out lately (student teaching AND working at cheesecake). It's pretty much consuming my life. And surprisingly I have pretty much kept the same weight/lost a couple pounds. I am attributing that to my normal eating schedule since being at school. :) YAY SCHOOL! HAHA But I have noticed that my legs seem extra disgusting lately and I want to make sure that is something I nip in the butt before it gets out of control :) haha! So, I think I will try and bring my gym bag to school today.... I'm not making any promises, but a light run on the treadmill, or a swim might do me some good. Maybe since the weather isn't supposed to be too scorching hot today I will have time to squeeze in a jog in the great outdoors instead of on the treadmill... hmmmm.... I'll keep my fingers crossed and charge my ipod! Also I will post about it later :)

I wish I had a super cool iphone app that I could log my calories with! I have tried doing the ones online.... but its hard to log on all the time then input it would be way easier if I had a phone.... Maybe i'll also bring a notebook to school today where I will be able to log all my food for the day, and then input it once I get home at the end of the day! I will be trying two new things today! GO ME!

Running with Sophia

This morning I went for a run with Sophia (Billy's Dog). One thing I can't wait for when I finally get my own dog is daily walks and runs. I had a great time running with her. We ran the same run I did on Sunday, but I think I got more running in, which is good! I took two days off (not on purpose) but got right back into it today, and it felt great!

Some other good news, the school I will be doing my student teaching at is close enough that I will be able to ride my bike :) This will be a great daily exercise! The only thing that would make this situation better would be if I had a nice bike that I enjoyed riding!

weighing in at: 152 lbs.

What I have learned

I thought that giving myself a challenge, and a deadline in which to meet that challenge would motivate me enough to complete it. I have learned that this is not the case. I enjoy working out, and I also enjoy creating and writing about it in this blog... But setting goals for myself and not reaching those goals makes my efforts feel pointless.

I have decided that what I need to do (I think) is to take it day by day. If I find time to work out that day then GREAT! If not, I need to stay positive, and jump back on the horse the next day :) My biggest motivator right now I think is my body, don't get me wrong I love my body! I just want to give it a little tune up :) In order to start this tune up off right I have started swimming again, which is a challenge in and of itself because every time I get in the pool it reminds me that I will never be as good as I once was and this in turn makes it hard for me to even complete a workout. I have started working out with a coach from my alma mater with the masters program that she runs. Practice is 3 times a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5:15-6:30 am. Last week I made it to Monday and Wednesday practice, but was exhausted from closing at work the  night before to make it to Friday practice. I am planning on going tomorrow and the rest of this week :)

I have also decided that I want to mix a little running up in my workout routine. I am in no way shape or form a runner... but I do like to go for a jog :) Plus, I think that will also help to kick-start my tune up! What can be better for your legs than running? So that was the first thing I did this morning when I woke up, well after I brushed my teeth of course! I ran 1.2 miles and then waked the same distance back home. It felt really good to be out and about early in the morning. Hopefully my body will like it too, and I can convince myself to do it more often :)

Day by day, that is my new motto! So today, check! Tomorrow, swimming is in the plans but we will see how that goes. I'm assuming it will work out since I work in the day today and I will be able to get plenty of sleep.

Weighing in at: 153

Second day a success but third and fourth kinda a dud...

So for day two I made it to a step class at the gym which was AWESOME! I was a little nervous about it since I haven't been in so long, but it went way better than I anticipated! I was also a little sore from the my workout on Friday, but it turned out okay. I am planning to go again to step on Tuesday (tomorrow), and I can't wait!

Yesterday was sunday, and I was planning on going to palates at the gym, and relied on Billy's alarm clock since he was supposed to be getting up to go play golf.... well he didn't end up going, and I slept in. I decided that Sunday was going to be my rest day, and not to worry too much about not making it out to a workout.

Today.... my alarm went off and I turned it off and went back to sleep. I know I know, I'm not supposed to be doing that, but I couldn't help it! I was at work so late last night and had a hard time falling asleep. It's 11:22 a.m. right now, so I still have time! I am thinking I will take it kinda easy today since my legs are still really sore from day one and day two... Maybe a light jog on the treadmill or a little time on the elliptical, maybe a short swim...   nothing too serious... as long as it stays in my 30 min. standard :)

First day a success!

This morning was a success! I set my alarm for 7am, and actually woke up. I'm not going to lie when I turned off my alarm I did roll over in bed and think about not getting up... But I had to pee, so when I got up to go to the bathroom I forced myself to not crawl back into bed after. I checked the gym class schedule to see what class I could possibly take at 8:30....yoga... YES!!!! I was so happy that I was able to do yoga today for my first day getting back into the groove! I actually went early and got a little extra in also. I spent about 30mins. on the treadmill changing my speed and elevation every two mins. I also did three sets of 25 in the leg squeeze and push machines, then it was on to yoga. There was one move I was unable to do because it hurt my elbow... but other than that it felt great! I am so happy that I got myself out of bed!

So my workout was successful, and on top of that I feel very accomplished today. After my workout I got the required smog check for my car (it passed, YAY)! I am planning on fixing 3 pairs of shorts for Billy as well as washing my extremely dirty car and hopefully still having time to relax a little before I need to leave for work tonight at 5:30 pm.

I'm excited about my 7day challenge, and am already planning my next couple of days.

My Challenge

I do not consider myself to be a writer, but I thought that keeping a blog might help keep me accountable for the challenge that I want to give myself. I have always been an athlete, but ever since my collegiate career ended I have been nothing but lazy with my workout and eating habits. Luckily I have not gained too much weight since then, but I have noticed a negative change in my body. I have tried many times to get back on track with working out, but nothing seems to work and it's always the same story... I'm not in shape like I used to be, so working out makes me feel worse since I can't keep up like I used to. The weights feel heavier, I get out of breath often, and even find myself stopping to take a break while participating in beginner level aerobics classes. I have finally had enough of my lazy mind and body, and am going to make a lifestyle change. This will be a challenge for me since every time I have tried to make a change I have failed. My plan of attack is to set goals for myself, and to accomplish those goals before I move onto the next goal with the ultimate goal in mind of getting back into the competition aspect of athletics, and being proud of my body. Weather it be swimming, signing up to run 5k's, a triathlon, a rough water swim. As long as I am competing and continuing to work out on a daily basis as well as loving my body I know I will be a happier person because of it.

My first short term goal:
work out for at least 30 mins. per day for 7 days in a row first thing in the morning.
-I want to get into the habit of waking up to a workout. I am not the kind of person who enjoys waking up to an alarm clock, and morning practice was always my biggest enemy while being on a swim team... but I was always enjoyed having a full day instead of just half of one, and I am positive that my attitude was more positive after a nice morning workout.

Wish me luck!
